Nowadays, money plays an important role in people’s lives, so many believe that children should learn how to manage money from a young age. Some people think that schools should teach this skill, while others argue that it is the duty of parents. This essay will discuss both views and give my opinion.
On the one hand, teaching money management at school can be very useful. Schools can provide structured lessons about saving, budgeting and spending wisely. For example, students can learn how to plan their expenses or understand basic financial terms. In addition, not all parents have enough knowledge or time to teach their children about money, so school lessons can help to reduce this gap. As a result, children may become more independent and responsible in the future.
On the other hand, many people believe that parents should teach children how to manage money. Parents know their children better and can explain financial matters based on real-life situations, such as shopping or paying bills. Moreover, money habits are often influenced by family values, and parents are in the best position to pass these values to their children. Learning at home can also be more practical and personal.
In my opinion, both schools and parents should share this responsibility. Schools can teach basic financial knowledge, while parents can support this learning at home by giving practical examples. This combined approach can help children develop good money habits and prepare them for adult life.
