A trend of sending children to boarding schools either in home country or abroad is becoming increasingly popular these days. In this essay, I will be discussing reasons behind this shift and also analyze whether it is beneficial or disadvantageous for children.
In my opinion, inclination of parents towards admitting their children to boarding schools carries more merits. Firstly, these institutions ensure holistic development of a child by focusing on areas apart from academics. Major emphasis is laid on extracurricular activities such as sports and arts, which not only boosts confidence and exposure but also provide opportunities to students struggling to get adequate grades in their studies. In addition, it encourages learners to become self-reliant and survive without their parents. To illustrate, children are taught to manage and look after their daily routine such a preparing uniform and attempting homework on their own. Consequently, making them independent and responsible to carry out their tasks without anyone’s help. Another positive reason includes increased social activity with peers. Children tend to establish stronger bonds with their friends, since they spend a lot of time together. As a result, they become happier in such routine bound surroundings.
However, such environments may leave children feeling homesick, often resulting in a feeling of separation with their families. As they continue to adapt to their new surroundings, they gradually fail to develop close bond with their guardians. Therefore, leading to a possible lack of respect and love for their family members.
In conclusion, the logics behind my stance are evident from the above essay that, although, boarding institutions are more advantageous for a child but also carries a few downsides. Despite contributing to the overall growth and development of a juvenile’s personality, it leads to a potential rift between a child-parent relationship.
