Band 5+: some people think that strict punishments for driving offences are the key to reducing traffic accidents. Others, however, believe that other measures would be more effective in improving road safety. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Road safety is a crucial issue in the world. Many people use public transport or they drive their cars. We have many responsibilities when we drive a car. Also, traffic accidents have increased nowadays. We must all know traffic rules and countries must protect our safety.

First, we are going to speak about strict punishments. I think that if there were no punishment, we would have a lot of accidents. First of all, if you drive a car, you must learn the rules. After that, you must give a exam that this exam measures your knowledge. Probably we will never forget the rules again. Strict punishments save us. For instance, a man hit someone with a car. However, he has done this many times and he always paid a fine. Now, we can take his car away and we can give him a huge fine. I think, strict punishments teach everybody and they will never do it again. Also, Germany is a simple example. This country has many strict punishments. If you don’t have a license but you drive a car, the German government imposes a license suspension.

Furthermore, we must discuss improving road safety. Actually, this topic belongs to states. They must think about these issues. Moreover, they should always check road safety. Some countries’ roads are very bumpy and creaky. This is a hazard for human life. Reckless behavior can cause many accidents.

From my perspective, these topics can’t be separated. Both of them so necessary for our lives. If we go out in transport, we should know what they help us with. Drivers follow the rules and they never forget them. Countries check the ways every month. If necessary, we can take deterrent measures. We belong to each other. Also, I would say we are a chain.
