Education has attracted many people’s concern. Some people think that there aren’t better methods to enhance student scores than spending time in class. I personally believe that other factors are more essential.
There are two main reasons for spending time in class. Firstly, what holds the most importance is increasing time spent on subjects. The more students concentrate in lectures, the more knowledge they gain. Hence, they will get higher academic results. For instance, studies have shown that students who spend an additional hour in focused study sessions tend to retain more information and perform better in exams. In the second place, fast absorption and application of knowledge is another contributing factor. With the guidance of teachers, students can understand an issue faster than through independent learning. Thus, they easily pass with flying colors in exams.
Despite the benefits that this trend may bring, there are some reasons why the others are more vital. First of all, studying isn’t the only way to decide whether a student has succeeded or failed. Beside spending more time in class to improve knowledge retention students also need time to develop other skills, such as critical thinking and creativity. Moreover, the potential of each student is different. The essential is how to promote their potential. For example, a student can improve his performance through his sports talent or similar things but not solely through studying. In the second place, quality often matters more than quantity. A successful student is a student who knows how to use time effectively, not a student spending many hours studying improperly. In conclusion, there is more than one way to increase student performance than to increase the amount of time spent in class.
