There are some who believe that the most effective method to lessen the computer time is replacing parks and gardens near the city centres by high-rise buildings for employees. While I believe that traveling time must be reduced by any means, it would be devastating to replace them for making apartment. There are other ways to tackle the problem related to traveling time.
There are many reasons why I strongly believe that replacing parks and gardens with apartment buildings would not reduce the traveling time. The main reason for extended travelling time is traffic congestion on the roads not the distance. As many individuals use their private vehicles for commuting to offices, it creates huge burden on the roads and streets leading to traffic jam. Building apartments near to city centres would exacerbate this problem even more as there would be more cars on the roads.
On the other hand, parks and gardens are the lungs in urban setting that provides a space to connect with nature in the hustle and bustle of city life. People of all classes go to these places for enjoying serene environment, doing recreational activities, socializing and many more, which leads to build a sence of community. Moreover, in parks there are a number of trees that supply the fresh air and helps to create calm and peaceful weather needed for living. So, if we replace them for building apartments then we have to face future consequences, such as heat island effect and low air quality. Furthermore, parks and gardens helps the people living in cities to maintain physical fitness. Many people do regular exercise, jogging, running in the parks to keep fit, replacing them with buildings might lead them suffering chronicle diseases and obesity.
In conclusion,I would like to reiterate that, replacing parks and gardens are not the best solution for reducing traveling time as it could influence people’s health badly and worsen the traffic congestion.
