It is argued that youth generation are facing it significantly hard to stay in affordable accommodation. The reasons for this phenomenon are overpopulation in urban areas and low salaries; it can be addressed by generating more jobs in rural areas.
One of the main causes is overpopulation in main cities, where is the problem located. Younger generations are always aiming to stay and work in main cities, where more jobs opportunities are available than rural areas, and this leads to population explosion in these cities. As a result, the high demand for houses there contributes to increase in prices. This combined with low salaries for new graduates. In the past, houses were cheap, so youth individuals were capable to buy or rent their own house even with low salaries. However, nowadays the situation is completely different, with the significant rise in values of homes, due to many factors such as high demand, most of younger generation cannot afford costs with there salaries. For example, in Saudi Arabia the average rent cost for an apartment in 1990 and 2026 was 600 SAR, 3000 SAR and the average salaries for recent graduates was 2500 SAR, 4000 SAR respectively.
This issue can be solved in create more chances in rural areas so no one leaves their hometown. Generating new work opportunities is an efficient way to solve this problem because this will give a chance for individuals to stay in rural areas and work there, and as a result, the demanding for houses in main cities will reduce and it will become cheaper. For instance, in Germany the cost of house in every city is almost the same; the experts attribute this to the great chances in rural areas, which encourages people to work there.
In conclusion, this phenomenon is caused by overpopulation and poor salaries, and it can be solved in making new chances in rural areas.
