It is argued whether individuals’ problem with obesity mostly caused by their own choices or it is governments’ and food companies’ fault. While I acknowledge how food productions produce processed food and promote a lot of advertisementS about junk food, I believe that it is always a person’s choice and there are still a lot of fit people worldwide as an excellent proof.
It is truly profitable for governments and food companies to produce low-quality food and promote it to people. The processed food that contains fats, sugar, and unknown supplements is cheaper to produce and easier to make it tasty. A vast amount of sugar and fats makes anything taste delicious, thus, people become more and more addicted to its flavour. That is to say, it becomes very difficult for people to resist the desire to eat processed food, due to its “amazing” flavour and probably inexpensive price. For example, the “WeDrink” company, which is currently very popular, has grown their popularity by adding inadequate amount of sugar in their syrops, beverages and icecreams. Even though food companies and governments contribute to people’s obesity problem, I believe that problem is hidden in people’s choices.
Any person in the world always has a choice to do or not to do any action in their lives. Every time one decides to buy a cheeseburger instead of a salad it is a choice, not an order. The easiest way to find an excuse is to put responsibilities on a government or someone else, but it will not solve a problem. As a proof, there are many people who suffered from obesity in the past, but they managed to overcome it and started to follow a fit lifestyle with high-nutrient diets. For instance, the USA experiences severe problems with the obesity level, hovewer there are still about 40% of people who have beaten addictions and started their new lives.
In conclusion, I agree with the former statement, because almost any problem that happens in one’s life is a choice, even considering the fact that diverse food companies produce and spread junk and processed food.
