There is a hotly debated topic between imposing some nutritional regulations on citizens to maintain a healthy lifestyle or free dietary selections. My opinion is in favor of the latter view but I will state my perspectives on both views in the following paragraphs.
On the one hand, there are some reasons that it is commonly believed that residents’ diets should have government intervention. The main cause is promoting a health-aware community because these laws force people to have healthy eating habits. Therefore, it encourages them to have positive alterations in habits and thus reduce some diseases that can be contracted like the obesity epidemic. For example, if the authorities created a law that citizens have to eat and drink well, people would have well-balanced nutritious meals every day and it can help to control hunger and prevent overeating.
On the other hand, I opine that it is appropriate for people to have their diet. This phenomenon stems from the fact that each person has different eating patterns depending on their allergy and interest, so the authority can not impose general dietary guidelines on all individuals. In addition, in each curriculum, people have different nutrition decisions that are suitable for their needs, for example, an actress has to gain weight because of the new movie she acts in, and thus she can not comply with food-related laws.
In conclusion, while some individuals think that eating preferences should have state interference to reduce the risk of some sickness, I am convinced that people should have liberties in their dietary selections.
