Certain individuals believe that the government must make public transportation subsidised and free for every citizen. I agree that government should make public transport for free, because it would encourage using of public transport and reduces traffic congestion
Firstly, amount of people using of public transportation systems would increase. A lot of people avoid busses and subways beacuse they can not afford daily or monthly fees, especially students and low-income workers. If these services become absolutely free, number of people using it would rise and become attractive option of transportation rather than taxi.
Furthermore, traffic congestions in megapolyses would reduce. When transportation is free, more people choose buses and trains instead of private cars. This helps reduce the number of vehicles on the road, which eases traffic jams and makes travel faster and more efficient for everyone. In turn reducing cars on the traffic would have environmental benefits. This leads to fewer vehicles on the road, which means less fuel consumption and lower emissions of harmful gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and nitrogen oxides. As a result, the air becomes cleaner, and cities experience a reduction in air pollution.
In addition, fewer cars also mean less noise pollution and less traffic congestion, which helps create a healthier, quieter, and more sustainable urban environment.
In conclusion, providing free public transport can bring several benefits, such as reducing traffic congestion and protecting the environment. Therefore, I believe that making public transportation free is a positive step toward a more sustainable and accessible future.
