Public libraries have played a crucial role in providing individuals with access to knowledge and education. However, while some are of the view that this is a waste of money because today’s generation or others get information on the internet, I align with those who think that the government should provide a public library in every city.
On the one hand, critics who argue that this is waste of money because people access information on the internet is easy to access all the information. Nowadays, many smart devices are available so, people extract some useful
information from social media and various other platforms. For example, people do not read the newspaper, but they read important information with the help of online media. Furthermore, it does not waste time and money. Many individuals think that buying a book and reading the entire book is a waste of time and money compared to getting information on various platforms. For example, people get information on ChatGPT rather than reading a book.
On the other hand, I believe that reducing the use of online media is a former reason for governments to provide public libraries in every town. People have smart devices to extract information, but they excessively use the internet for social media and games. However, libraries provide limited access to internet so people can focus on their studies. For example, libraries have attached notices to not use smart devices in the library. Another reason I shall put-forth is more focused and peaceful environment. There are several people in the public library, but they have rules and regulations to followed by all. In contrast, individuals learn new things to be focused, and their quiet environment feels more relaxed and peaceful.
To conclude, although easy to access all the information and does not waste time and money, reducing the use of online media and more focused and peaceful environment.
