Nowadays, techological advancement has created many opportunities, but this does not always distribute equally for everybody. Some people therefore argued that technology can widen the gap between rich and poor, while others think that it is making knowledge, services and education opportunitites available to more people. From my perspective, although both views hold merit, i believe that techonology have a greater potential to address inequality when access is sufficiently widespread.
On the one hand, techonology can be a significant sources of inequality due to its limited access to majority. As up-to-date techonological development access to who already have education, services and knowledge. The remaining part often required a long time or even never has a chance to use these inventions. For example, in COVID-19, the wealth children usually own a high-quality laptop with better internet connection, allowing them to study without concern about disconnection and disruption. However, the children from low-income families can not afford even a laptop will significantly struggle to pursue their educational programs, resulting in their future career and their possibility to overcome their background will be negatively affected. As a result, technology in some ways may gradually widen the wealth gap since it always bias towards the rich ones.
However, technology can help to remove barriers once kept opportunities limited to rich people. By allowing many people from poorer background to study without concerning about tuition fees and tranpost cost, it provide a equally access to study to everyone. For instance, some online platforms like Youtube, Google or ChatGPT can help poverty-family children to learn IELTS freely, thereby help them to improve English skills and enhance knowledge. As a result, they may earn more career opportunities and have a higher chance to overcome their poor background. Technological advancement therefore can strongly bridge the gap between the rich and poor.
In conclusion, Techonology sometimes can be inequality due to its limited access but also can provide a better educational chance for everyone. However, i believe the benefits cannot be automatically achiecved without gain and discipline from poorer background people.
