Opinions are divided into the primary role of parents; as some think they should be accountable for teaching them to discern right from wrong while others argue the focus should be on fostering their children’s development and ensuring safety. While I believe it is the primary responsibility of parents to support their growth and provide with a stable environment, they should also take on the responsibility of teaching a code of conduct.
On the one hand, I concede that disciplining should be parents’ main concern. Children tend to regard nobody but their parents as role models, influences, and support systems that they can rely on and trust implicitly. If parents take on the responsibility of teaching the differences between good and bad through a concerted effort, they can have a significant impact on children’s development, helping them turn into good community members. Additionally, children’s misbehavior or engagement in unlawful practices outside can have serious consequences for parents. For example, if children engage in crimes such as pickpocketing or drug dealing, parents face legal issues in court that lead to troublesome situations or even sentences. By prioritizing discipline, parents can avoid such repercussions.
On the other hand, I also believe that fostering growth and providing a secure environment are of paramount importance. In today’s fast-paced and competitive world, creating a safe space for children’s development is becoming the ultimate goal for most parents. When parents ensure a sense of safety, they also pave the way for their children’s healthy growth, both physically and mentally, preparing them to be resilient members of society. This, in turn, contributes to the overall safety and advancement of an entire nation, as the foundation of fundamental security begins within the family.
In my opinion, parents play a crucial role in various aspects of a child’s life, including disciplining and providing a safe environment for growth. They can act as mentors who guide children away from wrongdoing and assist in making rational decisions. While teachers and friends are undoubtedly supportive, they cannot replace parents or surpass them in teaching societal conduct. Parents should bear responsibility not only in the realm of disciplining but also in nurturing and providing a safe and sound environment for the young. This enables children to lead fulfilling lives, create happy memories, and develop into physically and mentally healthy individuals.
In conclusion, while parents should primarily be responsible for nurturing their children and providing a safe atmosphere for their growth, they should also take the lead in disciplining. As the most influential figures in their children’s lives, it is essential that parents fulfill both roles effectively.
