It is believed that adolescence is the best period of people’s lives, whereas others argue that adulthood makes individuals happier. In my view, even though adulthood introduces full independence, financial stability, and maturity, teenage years are full of difficulties in various aspects, self-cognition, and self-identification, which make them more memorable.
On one hand, adults are completely independent from their parents, and they have all their rights to visit them or not, live with them or separate. Moreover, since they can work full time, adults earn more money, which leads to material stability. They are provided with the opportunity to buy anything they want or need without permission from their parents. In addition, due to the fact that older people are more experienced, they can identify a person who has a terrible personality and know if he or she is using or lying to them.
On the other hand, adolescents deal with many problems, such as the consequences of puberty, high levels of stress and anxiety, school, and so on. Some even deal with toxic relationships, friendships, bullying, and loneliness. However, all these issues make youngsters emotionally grow up and more mature. As a result, they realise some complex principles of life. Furthermore, a large number of teenagers struggle with the identification. For instance, adolescents may have internal disputes about their membership of the LGBTQ+ community.
In conclusion, while adulthood offers independent life with all conveniences such as financial sustainability and emotional and physical maturity, adolescence appears to be more lifelike due to internal struggles and a lot of difficult issues.
