Nowadays, with the advancement of modern technology, people are becoming lazier and they tend to believe that online education is more effective. However, some individuals still perceive having a physically present human teacher as more beneficial. In my view, teaching with a physically present human teacher in the classroom is more effective for students compared to online classes where students might skip sessions.
On one hand, due to modern technology, students find studying online more convenient. Firstly, students have the flexibility to attend classes from any location worldwide. For instance, immigrant students can participate in their online classes through platforms like Zoom while residing in a different country or their home nation. Secondly, online learning has become more accessible with students having the opportunity to access multiple teachers at reasonable prices. For example, nowadays, many educators offer their services through online platforms like YouTube, Byju’s, Unacademy, and more, facilitating easy access to education. However, there are some downsides to online education such as students not attending classes regularly, which can lead to poor performance in exams.
On the other hand, in traditional educational institutions like schools, colleges, and universities, students perceive learning with a human teacher in a physical classroom as more effective. Firstly, students can easily engage with the teacher and ask questions related to the subject matter. For instance, if a student finds an explanation unclear, they can freely request the teacher to elaborate until they fully grasp the topic. Secondly, students are less likely to skip or miss classes when in a physical classroom due to the presence of a human teacher. For instance, some students may avoid certain subjects like math or science in online classes, but this is less common in a traditional classroom setting. Nonetheless, having a physically present teacher also has its drawbacks, such as limited exposure to multiple teachers, thereby making it more challenging for students to understand certain topics easily.
In conclusion, both types of learning environments offer their own set of advantages and disadvantages. However, in my opinion, learning with a teacher in a physical classroom is more effective for students as it promotes engagement and enables students to seek clarification on topics whenever necessary.
