People are more biased towards working from home than at workplace. From my point of view work from is beneficial for both organisation and employee in many ways. This essay list downs the benefits and disadvantages of these two types of work cultures.
Working from home have an advantage of time management and drastically or nullify the commute. For instance, daily commute to office may take some time to reach and it is directly impacting the work life balance. It also reduces the carbon emitted during commute. For example, daily commute by an auto mobile vehicle emits carbon into atmosphere and working from home reduces carbon footprints emitted.
On the other hand, most people find it difficult adjust to the home environment while working. For example, pets, kids, television noises bring distraction while employee is working on high-priority deliverables. Additionally, people may lose sense of time and will work beyond the office hours. For instance, people tend to deliver the tasks without noticing the office hours which may impact the work-life balance.
To conclude, I see working from home is more beneficial than at workplace when it comes to balancing the harmony between work and family. If proper care is taken, working from home can become a standardized culture which can increase the productivity of the employee and obviously benefits the organization.
