It is undoubtedly the case that the period between two to seven years is the most crucial developmental phase for a child. The things which children learn during that stage will impact greatly on their future life. For that reason, some people regard kindergarten as an ideal place for pre-school kids whereas others claim that children should skip nursery education and, when the time comes, can directly go to school. In this essay, I will compare both sides and give my own opinion.
To begin with, many people hold the view that every kid ought to attend nursery for the following three reasons. One of them is, they say, connected with improved social skills. By being in touch with their peers on a nursery playground, children will acquire proper communication skills, become outgoing and build team-working abilities at an early age. Furthermore, it is their view that kids with kindergarten background tend to be more disciplined and well-behaved compared to their have-never-seen-nursery peers. Moreover, there is also an argument that nursery education helps children to obtain academic excellence at a relatively young age. They learn the basics of several foreign languages, master numeracy and literacy skills by the time they have started a primary school.
However, others argue that under-school-age kids be kept at home. One of the reasons why they think in such a way is associated with finance. Since some families are struggling financially, it is for their own interest to educate their offspring at home. Apart from that, parents believe home-educated kids to have stronger family bonds than those who commute to a nurse on a daily basis. They also claim that parents should spend as much time as possible during their infancy and childhood so that a child develops a proper sense of parenthood and patriotism. So that, these are the points people in different groups hold.
In conclusion, sending kids to a nursery or not is a debatable, controversial question. Even though home is better in terms of affordability and parent-child relationships, I wholeheartedly believe that kids should witness what nursery is for the sake of their future.
