It has always been the subject of debate whether adults should work as a volunteer for the society or they should not. Many people think that if they work for free, it will bring many benefits for them as well as for the community. I completely agree with this statement.
The volunteer work done by youngsters truly help the societies in many ways. These young people could improve the overall appearance of a society. They could help the locals by planting more trees in all the possible areas. It brings many long term benefits to the towns, as it helps converting carbon dye-oxide into oxygen, which increase fresh air inhale opportunities for locals, resulting in better health conditions. Moreover, more trees create such an environment that is suitable for raining. If its more raining, the area could produce more crops, vegetables , and fruits, resulting in overall economic development of the community. For example, Chandigarh has trees at its 35 percent land, and it rains almost every week there. Therefore, a sustainable weather is the key to overall development of a nation.
Similarly, unpaid work bring many positives for volunteers too. These people could learn how to be a part of community, and how to help each others. These young people could foster a sense of brotherhood while working together, and could learn the value of team work as well. Additionally, these workers could develop a sense of social work, and could shape themselves into responsible individuals of the societies. Furthermore, they could learn many skills while working such as driving, planting, cleaning, and communicating effectively. For instance, one of my friend’s son learned driving while community work, and now works as a full-time driver in Canada. Thus, skills learned as a volunteer can help an individual in life.
On the other hand, many may argue that young people may lose their focus from studies or may feel less confident to get any paid work. However, this kind of thoughts could be eliminated by guiding the youth properly and advising them to keep applying for the paid jobs while being a volunteer, so that they can be a part of the community, and can get their desired employment as well.
In conclusion, even though there are some disadvantages of unpaid work, such as feeling of underconfident, and lack of focus on education. Still the merits of volunteer work, such as sense of community, development of helping nature, and sustainable environment, outweigh the demerits of it. There is no doubt that people should always recommend the youth to work for free for the society so that meaningful skills and qualities could be instilled in them.
