Recently, there is a debate that whether younger people are suitable for important positions in government. While both sides have their fair reasons, I believe it is crucial to give young people more opportunity to become civil servant while keeping a healthy balance for the propotion of young and experienced elder people.
Some people suppose younger people are not fit for government position, which is partly reasonable. Firstly, younger people are less experienced and more impetuous, therefore they might fail to make moderate decisions that can agreed by all parties. Secondly, contacts and resources are important factors for governmental policies to be released and succeed, which are what young people often lack of comparing to those who are older.
Nevertheless, younger people do have their advantages working in government. While elders would more likely to be conservative, younger people are usually more passionate and energetic, being able to make changes. Additionally, younger people always follow the latest trend of the society, so they could bring fresh ideas to the government and update those old-fashioned policies. For example, in lots of countries, great revolutions or reforms were called by young citizens. If governments could give more positions to younger people, it might open a necessary conversation platform for the citizens and government, and cause less damage in case of the protests.
Overall, although younger people do have some limits, it is vital for government welcoming younger people to take important positions. An efficient government should recruit both younger and elder people, forming a proper balance that can not only makes sure elder people contribute their experiences and resources, but also encourages younger people release their creativity.
