Some individuals are of the opinion that the main objective of this life is to have a successful career, meaning that intensive work is essential to gain it. Personally, I partly disagree with this suggestion for several reasons that will be explained below.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that a successful career can bring a numerous number of advantages for our life. In order to ensure the optimal quality of life, people have to spend a huge amount of time just to work for financial purposes. This not only guarantees the personal living demands, but also supports their family’s life. For instance, if a person have the ability to earn a considerable amount of money, this budget can enhance the living standards of both family members and that individual. As a result, focusing on the career can make people have a sense of happiness and proud in the future.
On the other hand, if the main purpose is to live a meaningful life, it requires more than earning money in the entire life. It is true that there are many elements from different aspects of the world contributing to our life, such as having great experiences in real life or gaining personal goals for our dream. Therefore, people’s lives are not just aiming a successful career, we have to make the most of every moment in our life in order to make it more beautifully and meaningfully. Thus, although spending time to earn money is the key way to have a better quality of life, fully concentrating on this action might cause us a sense of regret in the future for missing the opportunity to “experience” our life.
In conclusion, despite the opinion of some individuals, I argue that we have to appreciate every moment of our life. Not just working intensively or possessing a successful career, we should focus on other aspects of life in order to make it better.
