All countries have a diverse range of culture and local customs that some people believe guests should obey, however others believe that culture differences should be accepted. In my opinion, I believe that we should definitely respect the differences of cultures while also being open minded, learning the uniqueness of each customs.
First of all, we live in a society where there are various cultures that we can experience and view around the world via traveling. Some countries such as Thailand has multiple magnificent ancient temples that we have the privilege to visit, however to have access to these temples visitors has to wear modest clothing, as it’s out of respect to their religious beliefs and culture. Therefore as we are outsiders, respecting and obeying their local customs and behaviours are extremely important. Not only is this out of decency, however it’s a basic moral principle to be open minded to the differences and is an opportunity to discover the extraordinary culture.
Secondly, its necessary to be accepting to different cultures and respectfully adhere to the local customs to an extent where it’s not belittling your own culture and beliefs. When visiting countries not only do we have to be respectful to the host country, they should also welcome the culture differences. For example in western societies, wearing items that covers your head indoors is considered somewhat disrespectful however in some cultures religion such as Sikh, men’s wear a turban indoor as part of their religion, therefore we should welcome the differences of cultures learn from each other
In conclusion although when visiting other countries, should we obey their local custom and behaviours, such as adhering to religious sites rules. It’s also important to accept each other cultural differences and gain knowledge and understanding of unique cultures beliefs.
