Some of the population on earth wants government to spend money looking for life on other planets. Meanwhile, others consider this thing as a waste of public money. There has been countless problems on earth, why should we spend those money for solving problems outside the earth? This essay will discuss both views regarding this issue.
First of all, there is no point in finding life on other planets. Scientists have been doing this for almost one century or ten decades. The result of the findings merely discovers that there is a possibility that in the past there used to be a life in mars, because of its geological structure showing that there use to be water on the planet. In the end, the result of this research only send back several pictures and data regarding mineral, stones, and geological structure in Mars (not sending back a living human/passenger to and from that planet alive). Many people believe that commuting a human from mars requires an enermous amount of money and further research.
Secondly, there has been so many issue to solve on earth already. For instance, pollution and many people are still living in poverty. Many areas or countries are still categoried as a third world country. Therefore, it is better for the government to invest those money to fix several third world country to give the society there a better quality of life.
In spite of those advantages of spending the money on earth, the government should still need to allocate some portion of money to do or invest in space research. For instance, the starlink project made by Elon Musk is a big success in Indonesia, or even more throughout the world. It enables people living in the forest or in a third world country to have an access to the internet as long as they and the satellite can see the sky.
As a conclusion, it is better for the government to invest the majority of the money on solving the issue that is occuring on earth, because there are still countless issue happening here such as poverty, pollution, and the lack of clean water. Nevertheless, still small portion of money needs to be invested to do space research.
