Band 7+: Some people would argue that seoarate schools are good for children, while there are those who belive that mixed schools have mor ebenefits. Discuss both view and give your opinion.

There are those who believe that separate schools are beneficial for schoolchildren, whilst others say that mixed classes have more advantages. While sending them to separate schools may improve their academic performance, this essay would agree that it is better to educate them in mixed schools because it is essential for their well-rounded development.

On the one hand, separate education might be beneficial for improvement of children’s school performance. A single-gender school may eliminate distractions in the classroom and children may focus more on their studies, but this might have negative effects on their diversified improvement. For example, according to the data provided by the officials of Kazakh-Turkish lyceum (where girls and boys study in separate classes), around 80 percent of their graduates win scholarships to the best Universities of the world. However, I believe that it is better for children if they study in co-educational schools, because coed education improves interaction and promotes a diverse atmosphere that matches the real-world environment, while separate schools are good only for academic purposes.

On the other hand, if girls and boys study together, they share new experiences and gain fresh perspectives from each other, developing social skills in the process. Co-education provides a more realistic way of training young people to take places naturally in the wider community of men and women. For instance, according to the data provided by researchers of the Research Centre of Kazakhstan, students in co-educational schools are often better prepared to succeed in post-secondary education and to enter the workforce. I take the view that mixed schools are a better choice for pupils than separate schools because this has a positive impact on the overall development of a child.

In conclusion, although separate classes might help children to develop their school performance, this type of learning does not enable children to develop an all rounded character. Thus, mixed classes are more preferable.
