It is argued that only study books should be read for kids, and parents reading books for amusement are wasting time. I totally disagree with that statement because entertaining books are suitable for improving young people’s imaginations, and if children only read serious books, soon they will get tired of studying.
By reading a variety of amusing books, children’s brains can work more effective. When different types of books such as entertaining books are read by youths, their creativity improves and they will be able to solve problems faster and find better solutions while children who only read serious books are not capable to use their brains efficiently. For example, in the UK, a study in high schools showed that children who read a lot of amusing books receive higher marks comparing to students who only read educational books.
After only studying serious books, kids will soon get tired of it. If a child only focuses on reading serious books without any fun part, he will not function properly in long term because his brain will get tired, which leads to getting low grades. For instance, in CHIINA, after 20 years of forcing kids to only study serious books, such as physics, mathematics and biology, the government did some research and decided to change their method and add fun courses including entertaining books to their schedules which had positive results.
In conclusion, parents should also allocate some time reading entertaining books to their children’s beside serious books, as it is helpful for improving their child’s imagination and creativity, also help kids to not get frustrated and tired of studying.
