As an introvert who genuinely cherishes quiet time at home and truly loves to travel, the question of who should fund university education often crosses my mind. I was incredibly lucky to get a great education from an ICSE school, with my parents covering all the costs. This personal experience makes me think deeply about how other people can also access good schooling.
I generally agree with the many who feel the government should pay for college. A good education benefits everyone, not just the individual student. It really helps spark new ideas, creates better jobs, and leads to a smarter, more capable country overall. For someone like me, with a bit of an eye for detail (maybe even a touch of OCD), the idea of things being fair is extremely important. If the government helps out, it means everyone gets a fair chance, no matter their background.
Of course, some people argue that students should pay for their own college education. Their main point is that getting a degree primarily helps the student themselves, often leading to better job prospects and more money. Just as I enjoy the freedom of paying for my own travels, funding your own education can make you work harder, knowing you’ve truly invested in your future.
For me, though, the best way forward is a mix of both. A country becomes stronger when its people are well-educated. The positive things that come from everyone having access to college are simply much bigger than the money it costs. It’s similar to saving up for a fantastic trip, but you also definitely need good maps and clear signs to get where you’re going without getting lost.
