In present world, gaining knowledge has been confined to a limitation of gaining qualification and degrees only. Though we are getting a number of degrees in this way, our mind is becoming possessed with gaining knowledge in order to achieve academic qualifications only. But such a tendency must be sacrificed if we wish to gain true knowledge.
A huge number of students in Universities worldwide have an inherent desire to gain the highest scores in examinations and to get the best qualifications. It is natural to find such a tendency among students. But, due to cultivating such a desire a number of students are studying blindly just to learn the topics they need to secure a good marks in examinations. As a result, their scope of learning more out of their syllabuses gets narrowed. This also hampers the vastness of their knowledge to grow. This results in having less experience to survive in the current competitive society.
On the other hand, there is only a handful number of students who believe that being confided to syllabuses and academic books only won’t develop one’s knowledge. Hence, these students try learning about other subjects including their own subjects in their University. As aa result they can develop a vast knowledge about different topics which also increases their experience. This process can’t be deemed wrong. For instance, Aristotle, who is considered the father of politics, was quite expert in subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and politics at the same time.
In conclusion, I think that, studying only to gain qualifications is wrong and University students should try to gain knowledge on other subjects including theirs.
