Nowadays, due to the popularity of sport programmes on TV, there is an opinion that the youth enjoy watching sport channels rather than exercising and doing physical activities, thus leading to a rising number of physical disorders. As for me, I strongly disagree with this opinion because not only do some programmes can encourage people to start training, but also they are an important instrument for those who want to relax or take their mind off their problems, therefore, helping to improve mental health.
Firstly, my opinion contradicts with the given expression because while watching sport broadcasts or shows, some people internalise the idea that sports may actually be advantageous for them and that they should try it. From my own experience, many of my friends started playing football due to watching games with their fathers, so now they are quite successful in this activity and have quite good health. Additionally, I tried to take part in basketball after watching broadcasts on TV and this also led to the improvement of my physical state. Therefore, these examples drastically differ from the idea that the youth has poor health because of sport programmes and even refute it.
Another point why I do not see any relationship between sport programmes and deteriorating health of young people is the fact that game shows provide an opportunity to relax or to forget about your problems for dozens of minutes. This factor is dramatically important because the youth usually has high levels of mental activity at school or university and, therefore, they need some free-time activities aimed at relaxation, and watching sport programmes can be one of such things. Consequently, when people feel relaxed, they become less anxious and aggressive, and this improves mental health in general.
To conclude, I disagree with the opinion that watching sport programmes is the cause of poor health of the youth. This is because such programmes can encourage children to start exercising, and the other reason is that they also may enhance mental health and stability of young people
