It is argued that art is the only subject that can enhance students’ skills in other academic areas, and acquiring new skills is essential for those who are multi-talented. Additionally, many believe that art should be a vital part of educational curricula. I agree with this statement to some extent. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss my opinion and provide supporting reasons.
There are two main reasons why some argue that making art mandatory may not effectively stimulate students’ interest in other subjects. First of all, they believe it limits students’ choices and restricts their freedom to select subjects that align with their interests. Therefore, schools should allow students to choose the subjects they prefer. The second reason is that, despite some individuals asserting that multi-skilled students can learn new skills more easily through this method, others argue that this is not universally applicable. They contend that learning new skills depends on each student’s personality and abilities.
On the other hand, a number of people agree that studying art enhances students’ abilities in other subjects and should therefore be a compulsory part of the curriculum. They present two main arguments. Firstly, if students learn art well, they are likely to become more creative. In other words, acquiring new skills becomes easier for those who can integrate various tasks. Secondly, engaging in artistic activities requires considerable time and effort, teaching students patience as they develop new skills over time. As a result, students can gradually acquire a broader range of competencies.
In conclusion, while some people oppose the idea of forcing students to study art, I personally support this initiative because art is a crucial subject in schools. It motivates students to be more creative and enables them to learn new skills progressively.
