The number of people across the world who want to learn the English language efficiently rises every year. As a consequence, a belief arises that learning the English language in a country where it is widely spoken is the most beneficial, but is not the only right method to study the language. As for me, I strongly support this statement and there are several reasons for this.
To start with, learning English among English speakers benefits a user in lots of ways, starting from the correct pronounciation and ending with better understanding of the real English. Obviously, being surrounded by native speakers affects your language crucially. For instance, an English-speaking country gives a learner a basic understanding about manners of the language: how certain pairs of letters are spelled, how accent can change a speaker’s speech, where word and sentence stresses belong. Moreover, a user can personally feel the difference in vocabulary in unalike environments, such as a casual conversation with friends, a lecture in a teaching facility, or a professional dialog with superior in work surrounding. This method of learning engraves English into brain like it would to a child, who consumes all the information like a sponge. Obviously, all these perks are easily accessible for people in English spoken countries, whereas people without such benefits often struggle more and fall behind.
The other most popular method of successfully mastering the language, is obviously studying in your homeland, where English is not the primary method of communication. While it seems like students in these conditions study harder and achieve less, it is not true. For the most part, such people have an intermediate level of language or even higher. Mainly, this is achieved by more standart way of studying the language through books and additional materials. However, this method provides a more complex and deep understanding of grammar, word formation, tenses: things which natives often can’t explain. Native speakers have encountered English since childhood, carving it into their brains. Therefore, a lot of things which seem natural and obvious to them, not so transparent for the people without such knowledge.
To sum it up, learning in an English-speaking country is the most fast and easy way to achieve a high understanding of the language. However, other methods, such as academic studies in school or university in non English-speaking country can provide other important benefits, such as deeper understanding of language’s construction.
