In this day and age, there are a lot of changes in education. Art and physical subjects are being replaced by science-related subjects like information technology. As a result, a group of children suffer from those changes. From my standpoint, I believe that this trend is beneficial to students.
This trend brings about benefits to students. First of all, art, sport and music are not suitable for everyone. To explain, those subjects are considered to be special subjects, which means you need to be talented to be good at those subjects. In contrast, not all children are talented so we cannot force them to learn unsuitable subjects. Secondly, those subjects are not practical. Special subjects are only useful if you pursue a specific major. If we learn those subjects without using them, it is a waste of time. Instead, we should focus on more practical subjects like science or technology. Lastly, not everyone can afford the aforementioned subjects. Subjects like art and sports require a huge amount of money to purchase materials, equipment, etc. Therefore, schools might not have enough budget for those requirements, hence we should focus on the accessible subjects.
On the other hand, this trend also has some disadvantages. First of all, we might miss people with talents. Teaching special subjects helps us find the most talented children. If we train these children in the right way, they can unleash their true potential and be successful in their future life. Apart from talented children, these subjects help children engage with social activities better. When children grow up, they will hang out with their friends, which includes sports and music as the majority. If we teach them sport and music at school, they can take part in those activities and have a better relationship with their friends.
All things considered, the trend has both upsides and downsides. It helps us find talents as well as increases children’s social life. Besides, they are not suitable for everyone, impractical and may not be affordable.
