These days, sports athletes’ salaries can exceed many other important professions. It is argued that this is acceptable, whereas others disagree and think this is unreasonable. Personally, I strongly believe people from other professional areas must also be given equal economic earnings as sportsmen.
On the one hand, sport is a form of entertainment thus society decides the price based on the popularity of a sport. First of all, successful sportsmen bring excitement for audiences through their skills. It is admitted that whenever World Cup takes place, it brings lot of entertainment to general public. Consequently, people are willing to pay a large amount of money just to watch Leo Messi or Ronaldo perform in the match. Secondly, remarkable athletes make the nation proud and famous by gaining victories or participating in international tournaments. In other word, countries earn a lot of budget from sponsors which are paid higher for professional sports athletes similar the amount of efforts they made.
On the other hand, I concur that this is unequal because many other jobs deserve large payment too. There are individuals from other professions who contribute to maintain the country’s scientific as well as education. For instance, doctors spend at least ten years in of hard studying before starting to work and their work is considered critical to people’s life. In addition, teachers educate and inspire young people, their efforts are vital for the preparation of successful citizens in the future. Therefore, those working in the above careers suffer more stress and struggle in their work more than sportsmen. They have the right to be given their worth in terms of high salaries.
To conclude, while some think it is fair to give sports professional higher salaries than other critical jobs. I believe that this wrongful. Every citizen should feel valued, appreciated and paid appropriately for their effort.
