On the one hand, people argue that well-known sports champions deserve being well-paid because they facilitate their home country’s recognition on the world arena. Numerous competitive sports tournaments are watched by millions of fans across the globe, and when an athlete becomes a famous champion, the audience is curious about where he or she is from. As a result, the competitions’ winners are associated with their homeland, which might attract tourists there, therefore boosting the nation’s economy. I agree with this viewpoint because I witnessed Kazakhstan gaining global acknowledgement after the popular boxing professional Gennady Golovkin acquired the World Champion title in 2011, which popularized the nation internationally.
On the other hand, many claim that labour-intensive professions merit a wage as high as the famous athletes’ income due to the immediate benefitthey bring to the society. This is because specialists like doctors and teachers play a major part in the society. Not only do they tackle significant tasks that require expert experience, but they also set the direction in which the civilization develops. For instance, surgeons utilize their high-profile knowledg in the field of medicine to treat severe ailments and research new ways of remedy, thus saving lives of citizens. I disagree with this belief because while these professionals are indeed necessary, their labour cannot reinforce the nation’s tribute on the same scale as the sportspeople’s accomplishments.
