There is an opinion that the government’s expenditure in art is useless and it would be more beneficial to invest this money in other spheres. I fully disagree with this point of view because of the number of people who work in the art sphere and need support from the government and the importance of art for cultural and national development.
Employment for artists is funded by the government, therefore, without the investments in the arts, a high number of people are at risk to lose their jobs. The funding for artists from the government is essential for their lives. To demonstrate, the arts and cultural sector in the United States provides work places for approximately 5.2 million people, and all of these employees may become workless without the support from the government.
Moreover, art is a significant part of the history of humanity and contributes to the development of culture. Art is a helpful tool for the government to create a strong sense of national identity among citizens, which is crucial for the prosperity of the country. For instance, in Kazakhstan, a musical band named Dos-Mukasan contributed to the cultural development through their music, increasing people’s awareness of Kazakh traditions and encouraging them to learn native language.
In conclusion, the government should derive a budget and spend money on the arts due to the need for employment for artists and its contribution to cultural and national development.
