It is considered that there are more advantages of having English as a global language than its disadvantages. I strongly believe this view, because with most of the world’s population communicating in English, this will help to uncover opportunities and play a pivotal role in creating a borderless world.
Nowadays, English has become a compulsory subject for all students to master from an early age, even in primary schools. This will be a future asset for every child that will open up opportunities when they come of age. For instance, to continue higher education abroad or pursue professional work in other countries. In fact, one of the requirements to enter employment in most companies is the ability to proficiently speak English. Having English as their second language is shaping children to be global citizens with an international perspective.
In addition, the spread of a global language is supporting the idea of a border-less world, which is the world that we live in now. The internet and social media that we have is one evidence of a borderless world, with most of the information provided in English. The reason is that it bridges people of different nationalities to communicate and understand each other which is only possible by having the same global language. Therefore, English certainly makes communication easier.
In conclusion, besides English being one of the keys to educational or career opportunities, it is also the key to creating a borderless world. Hence, I firmly agree that the benefits of English will outweigh its drawbacks.
