Many people contend that establishing more strict rules is the only method to overcome safety concerns on roads. I completely agree with this notion because it would increase the compliance rate and decrease the ratio of road-traffic accidents.
Firstly, increasing the number of regulations would produce unparalleled benefits in terms of uplifting the obedience rate. If governments impose several punishments such as fine and imprisonment, then people will think twice before breaking any traffic rule. This negative reinforcement technique would force drivers to follow the regulations diligently.Secondly, if we can increase the safety criteria for getting permission to restart driving after breaking any severe rule, then nobody would deliberately ignore any safety rule. As a result, we would be able to raise the standard of road safety. Thus, establishment of stricter traffic rules can act as a catalyst to modify the behaviour of people driving on roads.
What is more, if there are tough rules, then eventually the number of collisions on roads would decrease up to a large extent. To elaborate, if we induce fear of financial repurcusions and other punishments that are challenging, then everyone would drive within a safe speed range and consider other rules as well. As a result, the percentage of road traffic accidents that are caused by negligence would plummet .
