Band 5+: The best way to reduce traffic accidents is to raise the age limit for younger drivers and to lower the age limit for elderly ones. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Road casualties are increasing day by day. It is often argued that age restriction for underage drivers and levelling down the cap for senior citizens can most significantly lessen this situation. I completely agree to the statement because teenage drivers have issues with sense of responsibility and also older ones often lack in physical abilities.

Firstly, adolescents feel excited with their new vehicles as it is for their 1st time. They do not, most of the time, care what might get in front of them while driving. For example, this happens while young boys and girls are driving for a hangout or tour and play loud music and chill throughout the full journey. As a result, occurrences like accidents take place because they tend to lose sight off the road or compete with other ones in the street. Thus, age limit can solve this unexpected incident.

Secondly, generation lose abilities to do daily chores as they get older. This over 60s citizens often react slowly in the road while driving since some of them have physical conditions. Gradually they start to lack eyesight at their age and eventually it leads to not maintain traffic rules or fall in any accident on uneven roads. A recent episode from TV series revealed that an older woman was speeding and skipped a signal that resulted in getting tickets as she mentioned that she failed to notice the traffic lights Therefore, lowering limit for older drivers can minimise this situation.

To conclude, traffic accidents are caused more and more by childish drivers and older vehicle owners than any other age groups as younger ones lose track of responsibility and age group face inabilities. This is why I firmly believe that increasing age limitation for driving for teenagers and decreasing limit for 60+ age range is the most effective way to eradicate the on-road casualties.
