Band 4+: The charts below show the proportions of british students at one university in england who were able to speak other languages in addition to english, in 2000 and 2010

The pie chart gives information about how many British students at one University in England can speak different languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010.

Overall, there were majority of students who was able to speak in Spanish in addition to English in both 2000 and 2010, however there was an increase in the percentage of students who was able to speak another language by 2010.

Obviously, a large proportion of bilingual students were able to speak in Spanish as a second language, this in index stably raised during a decade. So, if in 2000 30% of students were capable to speak in Spanish, in 2010 this index became 35%. Also, there was slight increase in the percentage of students who chose another language as a second language and their index rose from 15% to 20%. The percentage of students who was able to speak two other languages also rose on 5% by 2010. The number of students who chose German as a second language stayed stable during the period.

However, there were also some decreases, so, the percentage of students who has abilities to speak French slightly declined from 15% to 10%. Finally, the amount of students who was not able to speak another language declined sharply. So, if in 2000 the percentage of students without abilities to speak another language was 20%, in 2010 it became 10%.

Overall, there were some changes in the percentage of bi- or trilingual students, but surprisingly, the proportion of students who was not able to speak another language declined during the period.
