Majority of people nowadays tend to believe that the idea of family should be broadened way further than something that is considered to be your blood relation, so it might as well involve closest mates and your colleagues. I am inclined towards the opinion that some individuals from diverse groups and communities of yours should also be counted as your family members. However, I would like to delve into this matter more and consider all agreements and disagreements concerning this topic.
First and foremost, due to the fact that a person as an individual living creature with most developed cognitive abilities, is always growing not only biologically, but mentally, their social surrounding is constantly morphing. Not only does it mean that one day each of us will leave the nest, but will meet new so-called families and communities as well. Consequently, these people will sooner or later become the ones we will confide in the most, no matter the situation: whether it is bounded to office issues (if talking about colleagues), or some emotional troubles to share with. Recalling all key moments of my such a humble amount of time having lived on this world, there always was someone else apart from my blood-related family to propel me forward. Was it my homeroom teacher at secondary school, my English tutor at teenage years or my best friend at high school – all of them had an indelible impact on who I am as a person today, and I consider each of them to be either my third parent or my second sibling.
On the contrary, it is essential to mention that no one in the whole world would ever replace you the person that gave you life. Despite the fact that we grow up, communicate with others and our behavior totally depends on how people interact with us, still there is a root to all start-ups, which is considered to be the upbringing of ours as well as the amount of emotional support given to us at our worst exactly by blood-related family. They will always remain the ones that gave you the kick to adult life and to your independence, no matter how many other soulmates you find along your life path. Having experienced various kinds of life situations, I tend to think that come what may there always must be someone much older than you to show the best way out in a challenging moment of life. Surely it cannot be said in such a way about my friends that I consider to be my second family, since we are peers. Thus, parents would always be the best example to provide when it comes to giving valuable life advice.
To sum up everything that has been stated so far, concerning both views on the matter I would like to point out the importance of your close friends or even community members being included in your family and relatives’ circle.
