Some people believe that local cultures and traditions can be damaged by international tourism. In my opinion, I partly agree with this view for some reasons.
On the first hand, I agree that many international tourists with lacks of awareness of protecting local cultures and traditions had contributed to damage cultural values of host countries. They may break cultural heritages by accident or on purpose when visited museum, litter in public areas, tourist attractions,… Besides, many visitors are also not respect the cultures and customs of where they came. For example, they disparaged the foods, the landscapes or daily life of local residents.
On the other hand, international tourism also helps develop the economy of the countries or areas. When tourists come to visit a destination, they pay for tickets, food, accommodations,… This improves the economy and the daily life of the residents. Additionally, international tourism also helps advertise country’s images, cultures to the world. As a result, it enhance the nation’s standing.
In conclusion, I partly agree with the statement that international tourism can damage local cultures and traditions. It is because international tourism has some negative affects on local cultures and residents. However, it also helps in many aspects.
