The modern world’s structure and dangers have created a necessity for children to own telephones. In my opinion, it is the opposite, as using mobile phones by kids cause problems due to addiction and cyber abuse.
Firstly, telephones are very attractive devices for children, as they can play various games on them, and that is often the first step to addiction. Parents have difficulty with raising kids who are naughty and sometimes even aggressive when they’re not allowed to use cells. Nowadays, a big part of the younger generation spend too much time in front of electronic devices instead of hanging out with peers. In the future, that might be the reason for problems with socializing . My ten-years-old cousin has been using every occasion to play games on his phone since he was 4. As a result, he now has problems blending in with the class at school, because being in a group makes him anxious.
Secondly, children also use social media on their mobile phones. Hatred is the one type of cyber abuse, which might affect everybody’s, especially children’s mental health. The online world, has created a space where everyone can share their opinions, usually without any consequences. It’s easy to observe how many mean comments are written on social media. When many hurtful opinions are pointed at a young person the risk of depression grows. Unfortunately, cyberspace is full of fake accounts, which are made by scammers. Many teenagers can’t define which behaviours on the Internet are suspicious and that may lead to a tragedy such as a kidnapping. Especially when kids start to trust an inappropriate person who wants to harm them.
In conclusion, children shouldn’t own telephones because the modern world and dangers are sources of trouble like addiction and cyber abuse.
