In today’s interconnected world, globalization and technological advancements have significantly reduced the difference between countries and cultures. This trend has both advantages and disadvantages. I believe that the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages.
People nowadays wear the same clothes, watch the same movies and TV shows, eat the same food, and buy the same brands. One of the main benefits of this trend is international communication. The widespread of one global language allows people from different countries to merge for education, business, and social interaction. For example, people from different countries can work, study, work, and live in one place. In addition, this trend contributes significantly to increase in business income. International brands such as McDonald’s, Nike, and others can sell more products around the world. This creates new jobs and cause to offer better services.
However, there are also some disadvantages which cannot be overlooked. First one is loss of culture. If everyone eats the same food, wears the same clothes, speaks the same language, many cultures will be at risk of disappearing. Furthermore, this trend can lead to monopolization. It’s common knowledge that when some brands do not have any competitors, it always causes the rise of prices, bad services. For instance, many people have inclination to buy iPhone because of the Apple brand, and it has already led to rise of prices.
In conclusion, the growing similarity between countries has both advantages and disadvantages. Although there are several serious disadvantages such as loss of culture and monopolization, it’s important to note advantages such as international communication and increasement of business income. Therefore, I believe that advantages of growing similarity outweigh disadvantages.
