The rapid expansion of multinational companies, which has been driven by globalization, has transformed the global economy. Although this has had an adverse impact on local businesses, it has several advantages such as a rapid surge of job opportunities, advancement of technology, and promoting better living standards by offering many groundbreaking opportunities that are not easy to access for local people. In my view, the advantages of globalization outweigh its disadvantages.
One of the most significant advantages of multinational corporations, which create enormous job opportunities with better salaries, flexible work hours, as well as a sustainable working environment, is required for workforce satisfaction. Global corporations are expanding their operations worldwide, which is why local businesses cannot compete with these large corporations. As a result, these local businesses are forced to shut down their business activities. Additionally, globalization can help people to receive all of the modern amenities, including world-class education and approachable treatment, and enable them to access a variety of products which enhances their overall quality of life.
However, in spite of having positive aspects of globalization, certain challenges have also been introduced by globalization, including economic inequality and a lack of cultural heritage. A first possible demerit is economic disparity, which is a radical problem associated with this phenomenon. For example, many larger corporations focus on profit maximization over worker welfare; as a consequence, workers do not get standard payment, work in poor working conditions, and lack other worthwhile facilities. Secondly, globalization has brought automation systems into the industries, which has resulted in countless numbers of job losses. As a result, people often struggle to meet their needs. Furthermore, the dominance of Western culture through global media has led to the decline of traditional customs and languages in many regions.
In conclusion, the positive aspects of globalization, particularly in terms of economic development and technological development, outweigh its negative effects. By sharing fair labor policies and preserving cultural heritage, governments can maximize the benefits of globalization while mitigating its downsides.
