Band 5+: The growth of consumerism has led to a 'throw-away' culture where people are more concerned with acquiring material possessions than protecting the environment. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the contemporary era, there is a discussion that refers to the concern about ecology, as many people prefer to buy a bunch of clothes or goods which are not essential for personal needs, this type of behavior is called consumerism. To my way of thinking, I agree with the previous statement, due to my thoughts, which I will explain in this essay.

To begin, “throwing-away” culture means that people use a product only for a couple of time, and then throw it away as a useless thing. But the consequences of this action can be very devastating, the reason for this is obstacles with decomposing or recycling. For example, recently I heard that the citizens of Ghana have faced a serious problem which is fast-fashion that was caused by human’s thoughtless purchases of clothes. To be more precise, organizations all over the world sent tons of second-hand clothes to Ghana for recycling and usage in local shops. However, it is turned out in a major issue, which nowadays makes Ghana to look like a huge fabric dumb that pollute whole area.

However, the modern generation started to notice majority of environmental problems and finding solutions for them, such as for growth of consumerism. For instance, ecologists encourage everyone to buy as less clothes as it is possible, in order to decrease amount of waste. In addition, many teachers began to teach students about the importance of fixing electronic devices rather than just throwing them away and buying new ones.

In conclusion, I personally agree with the allegation about the damage on the environment as the effects of throw-away culture. Nevertheless, some individuals try to deal with the impact, but it is not enough for saving nature.

In the modern world, people no longer need to use food or products from animals, such as medicine and clothing. Do you agree or disagree with that statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Children can learn effectively by watching television. Therefore they should be encouraged to watch television regularly at school and at home. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a debate over whether children should be encouraged to watch television frequently at home and in educational environments. some people think that environmental problems are too big to solve, however others believe thst these issues cannot be solved until individuals take some action

People have different views about whether environmental issues are too significant for individuals to solve on their own, while others think that without individual action, government cannot reduce the environmental problems. I strongly believe that both the government and individual should work together to solve the big challenges. There are a number of reasons why […]
