Band 7+: The growth of online shopping will one day lead to all shops in towns and cities closing. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Looking at the growing popularity of online shopping, it is certain that a time will come in the future when malls and shops will be replaced with the online method. I wholeheartedly agree with this argument.

Firstly, the lifestyles of urban people are changing drastically. Initially, people used to purchase any item from nearby shops and malls, but now this shopping trend is changing due to their lifestyles. Most urban residents go to the office early in the morning and come back in the evening, so they do not have much time left to do regular shopping. To substitute for this limitation, technology has gifted them online shopping methods, and they are also preferring online purchasing since the published data of online businesses shows year-on-year drastic trade growth, suggesting a change in purchasing patterns. Thus, one day, I think, this method will overcome traditional shopping styles.

Next, in online shopping, one can find all types of products at the same location, with the facility to compare prices from multiple suppliers. This was not possible in the case of the traditional method. One has to travel from one location to another, or even from one city to another; however, online shopping provides a benefit to this hurdle. One can just search on an online shopping portal, select the required items, and order them. After a few days, items will be delivered. Thus, within a few clicks, people are getting their delivery, so they are finding this approach easy and convenient.

In conclusion, to ease the shopping for those with busy schedules and make items available for them within a few clicks at a competitive price, technology has gifted them the online shopping method, and year-on-year businesses volume of this shopping style is soaring, suggesting people’s changing purchasing patterns, which is a kind of love and support for the online method. Therefore, it makes us feel like one day all shops in the town will be closed and replaced with online shopping.
