In recent years, tourism has become common in many countries. However, some believe that it should be banned due to possibility of environmental problems by visitors. In my opinion, there are more benefits of tourism rather than its drawbacks.
When it comes to the possible destructions by tourists, one of which is environmental damage, and it involves resource depletion. Excessive usage of natural resources such as water and energy use, especially areas with limited resources. As a consequence, it leads to finishing unsustainable resources in these areas, becoming poor and vacant places. Another possibility is social disruptions. It includes overcrowding in areas which tourism is too popular. If it is too common in a country, the excessive numbers of tourists can overwhelm local infrastructure, causing traffics, and reducing quality of life for residents. Consequently, these possible problems are apt to lead to reduced popularity in that country and adversely impact on well-being of local residents.
However, there are numerous benefits of tourism. Firstly, tourists can enhance economic growth. As the major source of income is tourists, spending on accommodations, foods, and attractions. Secondly, improved facilities. To accommodate tourists, governments, and private investors often invest in infrastructure public transports. As a result, these areas that visitors come must be modernized, impacting on popularity of these areas and improving conditions of them with regard to constructions of new roads and affluent buildings.
In conclusion, although there are possible damages of tourism such as resource depletion and overcrowding, these damages are negligible compared to its benefits such as a vast amount of money for a country and big investments in infrastructures. In my opinion, tourism ought not to be banned, since it has more advantages rather than its disadvantages.
