It’s often argued that escape rooms has led to a decrease in traditional hobbies due to the vast amount of activities it provides. Although it provides the paltform to socialise with others, I believe it could be detrimental to introverts. Nonetheless, it provides a positive atmosphere for individuals who love to socialise and take part in team activities.
On the one hand, an increase in the trend of escape rooms could be beneficial to all types of individuals. Firstly, individuals who love socialising can use this means as a way to interact with others and make new friends. For example, an extrovert can consider an escape room as a platform to meet new friends, potential clients or partners since it host various types of individuals. Secondly, this could help increase an individual colaborative and communication skills as it provides a platform for individuals to work together via games and other activities. Even though this could be challenging to introverts, but it provides a great opportunity for individuals who want to improve on their social skills and reduce depression.
On the other hand, an increase in the trend of escape rooms could be considered problematic. People may not want to take part in escape room activies; therefore, leading to an increase in depression levels. For example, introverts won’t be able to force themselves to take part in escape room activities and this could led to increase in depression rates as more individuals will be forced to stay indoors. In addition, escape room activities maybe limited. For example, an individual may enjoy playing video games rather than trying to uncover a hidden puzzle.
Some majors could be considered or implemented to forster/improve participating in traditional hobbies especially among the younger generation. Firstly, we can create communities where both introverts and extroverts has a role to play. Secondly, we can educate people on the importance of traditional hobbies and it could be used as a gateway to escape depression.
To conclude, while escape rooms and traditional hobbies are encouraged, individuals are adviced to adapt to both environments as this will increase their chance of finding happiness.
