Nowadays, the internet plays a pivotal role in individuals’ lives, allowing them to stay in contact whenever they need it. However, it can also make people more dependent on gadgets and encourage them to become more isolated. I personally believe that although the digital world provides numerous advantages to society, it also has some drawbacks, such as addiction, depression, and a fear of social interaction.
On the one hand, the internet allows individuals to stay in contact with people all around the globe, which provides a sense of connection and belonging. More often than not, these people may have encountered problems that those in real life have not, which makes them good advisors with valuable experience that they can share with young individuals. For instance, in Uzbekistan, the vast majority of students ask foreign professors or friends from fields they are familiar with for help. As a result, these students receive support and develop a deeper understanding of the topic compared to those who seek help only within Uzbekistan, as the country has only recently started developing in some spheres where Europe is already at a more advanced level.
On the other hand, people might experience problems with their emotional well-being and develop addictions. Nowadays, many people scroll through social media or talk with virtual friends and forget that communication with real human beings has a huge impact on our mental health. From the very beginning, people have tended to have conversations with each other on a daily basis; however, now some people are even forgotten by their own children. Individuals living in the online world full of idealized images forget how wonderful it is to live in the real world. As a result, they may develop mental health problems such as depression or fixation on the unrealistic online world.
In conclucion, even if internet provides numerious benefits, it will never replace real-life environment with human beings.
