Band 5+: The modern life is harmful for people as it brings a lot of pressure and reduces the quality of relationships. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In our fast-paced world it is becoming ubiquitous to witness individuals suffering from excessive amounts of pressure and depression due to the overwhelming curricula. In this regard, a number of people believe that contemporary life is detrimental for people as it brings about stress and weakens the bonds of people’s relationship. Although living in the modern world has a cluster of benefits to offer, I think that overlooking its drawbacks can lead to devastating consequences for society and individual’s well-being.

Admittedly, technologically advanced era has numerous advantages to provide that can ease people’s lives in several ways. First and foremost merit is the invention of smartphones. This novelty has modified the life of people significantly with its multifaceted functions. For instance, a person can tackle a number of personal of household issues from a designated place without moving: paying for taxes, electricity and water bills can accomplish with the help of a applications on the telephones, sparing time for other more essential activities during the day. Another undeniable positive thing about the modern world is the creation of vehicles. This is the other indispensable part of our life that we can not imagine our life without it. It has made our commuting process easier and faster, being a real time-saver for all people around the world. The long distance , nowadays, do not scare anybody due to the state-of-the-art cars. These are the beneficial impacts of the current life to the people’s lifestyles.

While acknowledging the undisputable benefits of today’s invention on public, I personally align with the notion of the disadvantages of day to days life. Even though enhanced devices made our life better with the conveniences that it is offering, its negative affects on people’s health and relationships should not be dismissed. As we live in a digitalized world everyone is glued to their phones 24/7, leading a sedentary lifestyle which is adversely effecting the people’s social lives. A shining example would be a person who allocates a whale amount of time on social media by scrolling the net instead of spending some quality time with his or her family members. This behaviour, in turn, leads to the detachment of the real world and soaking into the virtual world, loosening the contact between near and dears. Additionally, by living in a competitive environment almost everyone if not all has faced a challenge of outperforming each other. This can have an huge adverse impact on people’s mental state since they strive to surpass and that puts a lot of pressure while doing their job. This, as a result, can cause some mental illnesses like depression or perfectionism.

In conclusion, although residing in the 21st century has become increasingly convenient due to the inventions like cars and smartphones, the demerits that are arising from them like addiction and breakdown of relationships ought to prevented.
