A prevalent view exists in which some individuals contend that providing better education can be an effective solution than imprisoning, which is common in the majority of countries. I completely disagree with this belief.
One of the most compelling reasons to support the claim that education cannot always be effective to prevent crimes is that, on the contrary, it enables people to engage in a crime. White collar criminals, who commit fraud or corruption, conversely, benefit from education for their crime. They mainly are business executives, bankers, government officials, and lawyers, and they receive high education to get their post. For example, Jeffrey Skilling, the CEO of Enron in the USA, graduated from Harvard Business School, yet commited fraud and conspiracy later in his life.
Moreover, in my opinion, victims have to get justice. Victims, their relatives, and society demands justice, so offenders should be punished. Giving opportunity to the criminals by educating them will be unfair, as victims will feel that their suffering was ignored or insignificant. As a result, people will think law will not defend them, and they may commit crimes as they believe that they will not pay the price for their actions, instead, they will get education, which does not guarantee that they will not reoffend.
In conclusion, I believe that education is not effective solution to prevent crimes, as it can give an opportunity to commit them, and also offenders have to be imprisoned, so that others see that they will face consequences if they break the law.
