The domestic migration trend of men and women from rural areas to metropolises has given rise to many predicaments in both areas. The main factors for this situation are glamorized city life circumstances and modern life conveniences; however, the most viable solution to alleviate the problems is to improve the living conditions of agricultural regions.
One factor that incentivizes individuals to move out to cities is overrated urban area conditions. In other words, villagers are subjected to appealing city life conditions, such as concerts, restaurants, and pubs, via social media and television. Therefore, many join the internal migration trend to achieve these facilities. Modern life conveniences, on the other hand, are another reason that causes this issue. This is because people in rural areas believe that city dwellers utilize a wide range of public facilities, including full-service hospitals and prestigious universities. Consequently, they aspire to tap into these community facilities. For instance, in Ankara, villagers have to travel to the city center to be examined in comprehensive hospitals.
The most effective remedy to overcome these problems is to provide equal conditions to villagers as urban dwellers. That is to say, if rural residents can access similar opportunities as people in big cities, they would not want to relocate from their homelands. For example, due to the developed rural life conditions, there is not any commendable internal migration trend in Sweden.
In conclusion, the main reasons that trigger the domestic migration stream from rural areas to urban regions are the charming conditions and the advantageous opportunities of cities; however, the most optimal solution is providing public facilities and developed infrastructures to villages.
