Band 5+: The number of overweight children in developed countries is increasing. Some people think this is due to problems such as growing number of fast food outlets. Others believe that parents are to blame for not looking after their children's health.

Obesity is a common disease in these days, especially among children. Some people argue that the reason why young children are becoming overweight is the growth of consuming fast foods, while others think that parents don’t control their children’s healthy diet. This essay will discuss both views and give examples why young people tend to become obese.

Some people blame the shops selling junk foods such as chips, fried chickens, burgers, soda and others. It is clearly true because adults prefer to eat ready snacks instead of cooking healthy meals for themselves. Junk or fast foods contain useless ingredients which lead to obesity. It is easy to find grocery shops in everywhere , nowadays. They can also attract people’s attention easily. So, we can count shops as on of the min reason.

However, there is also another arguments that blames the care-takers for not controlling adult’s diet. Good habits are built from an early age. Parents might teach their offspring to eat junk foods. For example, if parents give children chocolate or chips rather than nourishing foods consistently, adults might find it impossible not to eat junk foods throughout their lives. So, parents should set strict rules their child to have healthy eating.

From the other side, there is another factor. Nowadays, adults take very little exercises due to spending too much time in front of the screen. Whenever they are at home, they only play computer games online or scrolling videos through Instagram. It leads to obesity due to a lack of exercise.

In the nutshell, there are some reasons to contribute this problem. Parents should encourage young people to be more active and increase awareness of children to have good eating habits. Young generations and adults need to have a balance between diet and exer
